What is the God Pill?

If someone close to you offered you a pill, and explained to you the effects would only last five minutes, however the effects are not your normal ‘run of the mill’ kind. In only five minutes here on earth, you will experience the all. You will be every grain of sand on this planet as well as every other. You will experience every human life on earth, as well as every human death, throughout all time. You will experience every animal and plant’s existence as well. Every orbiting body, and every star in the cosmos, as well as all of these things in a seemingly infinite number of dimensions. Every atom inside every molecule, and many other things you have never even considered, you will be. Eternities will seem to pass you by, but I promise you will wake up in five minutes…

Would you take it?

  1. I believe it would be the only way to understand anything in this life. It would eliminate judgement, racisim, hatred, pollution, killing, or war. The list could go on for an infinite amount of negative act possible. But could it erase anything positive? If you experience anything and everything, what good would be knowledge, learning, hope, love, peace, reading, living? As this, the list could go on for days. Really what it comes down to then, is if a new species birthed from such a pill, would they be perfect, since they would learn the idea of perfection for a matter of seconds?

  2. What is positive, or negative, but two sides of the same coin?

I think the choice is not to be perfect or imperfect, but to choose or not to choose, to be involved, or not be involved…

to live in Samsara, or live in Nirvana.

  3. Life, in my opinion, can be perceived as a journey from one experience to another. Why would I want to experience everything all at once, instead of looking forward to new ways of thinking and feeling? Why would I want to experience something so powerful that would make the rest of my existence feel meaningless? And if I felt it all at once, why would I even want to live the rest of my life, if I felt that there were nothing new and interesting to discover? If these were the last 5 minutes of my life? I would most likely say yes. But at any other point in my life? Probably not.

Also – are humans even SUPPOSED to understand and feel everything? Or maybe some things are better left unexperienced? Just a thought!

    • I agree, and a journey is why life has meaning and beauty. It about the experience we need not know everything that is God’s job.

  4. Who gets to makes the decision for you regarding what you are supposed to experience? Why would you assume life would be meaningless after you saw the bigger picture? Does that not presume life is already meaningless on your part? Hmmmm…
